You notice a more frequent occurrence of Error 5 messages in the IMail logs after upgrading to 12.5.4.

If your server has a high volume of traffic that goes through it and you have multiple users accessing the same mailbox the logs will show Error 5 in the logs. In 12.5.4 we do more aggressive locking of the mailboxes to ensure proper delivery of the messages and retrieval.  Error 5 means the mailbox is locked and the service can not access it.
If this is causing you problems the solution is to downgrade back to 12.5.3 or upgrade the hardware to handle the higher requests to the mailbox.
